Before you ask

What does a full airfield inspection actually cover?

Every visual aid on the field and the pavement under it. The glide slope indicators angle by angle, the approach lighting system including its sequenced flashing row, the runway edge, threshold and end lights unit by unit, the dimming steps across all of those systems, minimum eye height over the threshold, ILS harmonisation, the obstacle protection surface over each approach, and a pavement surface scan of your runways and taxiways. One team, one visit, one report.

How long does it take?

Budget about an hour on site per runway with both directions measured. That is the whole sequence, not just one flight: the lighting inspections, the approach checks and the surface scan. Results come back the same day.

Why is the price not published?

Because the work scales with your airfield rather than with a line item. A single-runway regional airport and a two-runway international one are different jobs, and travel matters too. We would rather quote you a real number for your airport than advertise one that turns out to be wrong. Tell us the airport and we will come back with a figure and a date.

Do you need the runway closed?

No. With coordination through your tower, the drone works between aircraft movements and can be on the ground in a designated safe area within 20 to 30 seconds when instructed. Most of the inspection happens off the runway surface anyway, out on the approach or alongside the light rows.

What do we need to provide?

Access, coordination with air traffic control, and someone who can operate the lighting panel so we can step through the dimming levels and switch to the standby supply. We bring the drones, the cameras, the RTK positioning, the field equipment and the licensed operators. You do not need to own a drone or train anyone.

Can we buy the software and run the inspections ourselves?

Not at the moment. We are focused on delivering the full service, so the measurement platform is not licensed separately today and we are not running training courses for it. If you want your own team to inspect in-house eventually, tell us when you get in touch and we will keep you posted.

Are the reports accepted by civil aviation authorities?

Yes. Protocols follow ICAO Doc 9157 Part 4 and ICAO Annex 14, and are issued in your authority's format for ICAO, EASA or FAA submission, with the supporting measurement data and video record attached.

What happens if something is out of tolerance?

The report names the unit and gives the correction needed, for example the exact angular adjustment for a glide slope indicator outside its band, or the position of the edge light that has gone dark. The physical work is done by your maintenance team or contractor. We can re-measure afterwards to confirm everything is back inside tolerance.

How often should an airfield be inspected?

ICAO and most civil aviation authorities look for annual verification of visual aids. More often is worth it after lighting maintenance, resurfacing, severe weather, or when crews start reporting something that does not look right.
