Prestressed concrete pavement (PCP) is a rigid pavement system in which internal compressive stresses are introduced into the concrete slab before service loads are applied, using pre-tensioned or post-tensioned steel tendons. Prestressing increases slab span capability, reduces slab thickness, and minimizes transverse cracking compared to conventional reinforced concrete pavement.
